dConstruct 2014
On the first Friday of September every year, Brighton plays host to a fantastic one-day conference called dConstruct.
My name is Jeremy and I work at Clearleft, the design agency that organises dConstruct. We’ve been putting a fantastic line-up together for this year’s event—I think you’re going to like it.
dConstruct has a different theme every year. Two years ago it was “Playing With The Future.” Last year it was “Communicating With Machines.” This year’s theme is “Living With The Network.”
You’ll hear from artists, writers, hackers and coders about surveillance, connected devices, big data, and just about everything the network touches. This isn’t your typical technology conference—it’s about the meeting of technology, culture, and society. Don’t worry: it isn’t as pretentious as that makes it sound—it’s a lot of fun. It’s entertaining for nerds of all ages.
Frankly, it’s hard to describe dConstruct—you kind of have to be there. But if you haven’t been to a dConstruct before, you can listen to audio recordings from all the previous events in the dConstruct archive. Have a listen to the magificent talks from Adam Buxton, Sarah Angliss, and Dan Williams at last year’s event.
